Pathways is a unique place and time, to link up with others and feel the presence of God.
Relax and enjoy your time with us! Visiting a new place for the first time can be pretty intimidating. What will it be like? What should I wear? What's available for my kids? How do I get there? Where do I park? We hope we can answer some of your questions to make your experience an enjoyable one.
What will it be like? We know how intimidating it can be to walk into a big building that you've never been to before. We hope you will relax - we were all new here once and we’re a friendly bunch of people! We try not to be too pushy or call awkward attention to guests. We figure you're coming, first, to meet God and, second maybe, to meet and learn about us. When you enter the doors of Western Oaks, you will probably be met by one of our friendly greeters. These people are there to welcome you, and help you find your way around our facility. As you enter the Chapel or Sanctuary doors, you may be greeted again and receive a bulletin. The bulletin contains the order of the service, a communication card, helpful information, and some current events. Please sit anywhere you feel comfortable.
What should I wear? You will see some dressed up; some dressed casually. Dress how you feel comfortable.
What ages are welcome in the nursery? Children from newborns through age three are provided consistent care by our loving nursery staff. Care is offered from 8:30 am to 12 Noon on Sundays. Our childcare workers are screened and trained. We provide parent pagers in case your child needs you during the service.
What's available for my kids? We know your kids are important to you, and they're important to us as well. Children of all ages are welcome in worship, and we provide safe
childcare, fun classes, and more.
Where do kids go during worship? Children are welcome in all services, as young and old alike share in the mystery and joy of God’s presence.
Children's Worship & Wonder offers preschoolers and school aged children up to 5th grade a time where they may experience worship on their own terms and in their own way. The Children’s Worship and Wonder program encourages parents to take their children into the beginning of worship, to sing with them, and to pray with them. Children leave for Children’s Worship and Wonder immediately following the Children’s Message during each service.
How do I get there & where do I park? We are located at 8100 NW 23rd Street, on the corner of NW 23rd and Council Road, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Parking is available all around the building but we reserve some front-row parking in our parking lot for our guests. Each Sunday morning we offer
three different worship experiences. Each service is designed to welcome all into the presence of God in unique and different ways through proclaiming the Word, open communion, a message and music to suit all tastes. You will experience everything from ancient folk songs, traditional hymns to contemporary praise music, depending upon the message and the hour.
May I Take Communion If I Am Not A Member? Yes. Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper, is the commemoration of Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples. Communion is celebrated during all worship experiences and all who believe in Christ are invited to participate. At the Well everyone comes forward to receive communion by the ancient Christian practice known as intinction. You will take a piece of bread from one of our Communion Servers, and then be offered the cup. The bread may then be dipped into the cup. It’s less intimidating when you see everyone else doing it, so watch and join in. Here at Western Oaks we use grape juice, although it may be referred to as wine.
Have other questions? Have a question we didn't answer? Feel free to contact us. We want your visit to be an enjoyable experience.
